White Noise Machine
Instrumentation: piano
Duration: 5
Written in: 2025
Category: Chamber
White Noise Machine imitates repetitious machinery and the white noise sound effect that many use to fall asleep. As part of Oliver Prechtl’s “Music from Yesterday” project, the work was written and performed within a day.
The work can be played on any non-sustaining keyboard instrument (e.g. piano, Rhodes piano, synthesizer). If it is played on a synthesizer, the timbre/choice of instrument is up to the performer, but it must be non-sustaining like a piano. Also, pure noise sounds or transpositions of what is notated in the score should be avoided.
