Vanishing Points refers to the area in a painting in which objects recede on the horizon, or that two parallel lines meet or fade away.  To represent this musically, there is usually a foreground and a background in terms of dynamics, gesture, range, etc. The work also refers to the word “point,” as in “Get to the point” or “What is your point?” Consequently, the piece consists of a number of a short sections that can be rearranged in any order. Each section is like a diary entry. It has a purpose, an idea, rambling or “to the point.”
